For more than 400 years, Ayutthaya was the seat of the Siamese Rulers, a glorious city of soaring temples and commerce that was cast into ruins in the 18th century.

Your tour of this stunning sight begins early in the morning with an hour-long coach ride through the rolling countryside north of Bangkok. On arrival at the ruined city of Ayutthaya, your expert guide will show you around some of the more impressive temples, and tell the full story of the city and the mighty kingdom it ruled.

You will have plenty of time to explore the ruins for yourself and tale some photographs before boarding the coach for a trip to the modern city of Bang Pa nearby. With lively markets to tour, and a chance to see the modern summer palace of the present rulers of Thailand, Bang Pa is a fascinating counterpoint to the ruins of Ayutthaya.

Rather than returning to Bangkok by coach, you will board one of the tour company's fleet of boats and take a leisurely cruise back to the city along the Chao Praya River. Lunch is served on board the boat, and you arrive back into Bangkok in plenty of time to spend the afternoon shopping or sightseeing.
